Getting started with Rosty

Set up your organisation, invite your team, and publish your first roster in minutes.

What is Rosty?

Rosty is a roster management app for small teams. Admins build and publish schedules; staff see their shifts, mark unavailability, and communicate with their manager — all in one place.

Step 1 — Create your account

Go to rosty.dat3.app and enter your email address. You’ll receive a one-time code — no password needed. Enter the code to sign in.

The first time you sign in you’ll be prompted to create your organisation. Enter your organisation name and continue.

Step 2 — Add your resources

Resources are the things you roster staff into — rooms, bays, stations, courts, clinics, or whatever your team calls them.

  1. Go to Resources in the sidebar
  2. Click Add resource
  3. Give it a name and set its opening and closing times
  4. Repeat for each resource

Tip: Set organisation-wide default hours in Settings → Hours first — new resources will pre-fill with those times.

Step 3 — Add your staff

Staff members are the people you roster. Each person gets their own login via email.

  1. Go to Staff in the sidebar
  2. Click Invite staff
  3. Enter the person’s email address
  4. They’ll receive an invitation and can sign in immediately

You can also add equipment (vehicles, tools, machines) from the Equipment page.

Step 4 — Create a roster period

A roster period is a date range you’re scheduling for — typically a week.

  1. Go to Roster in the sidebar
  2. Click New period
  3. Set the start and end dates and give the period a name (e.g. “Week 3 – July”)
  4. Click Create

Step 5 — Assign staff to shifts

With your period open, use the Gantt, Calendar, or Agenda view:

  • Gantt view: Drag a staff member’s chip from the left sidebar onto the timeline for a resource
  • Calendar view: Drag a staff chip onto a day and time slot
  • Agenda view: Click Add assignment to create a shift manually

Resize blocks to adjust shift times. Click any block to edit it.

Step 6 — Publish the roster

When you’re happy with the schedule, click Publish. Staff can now see their shifts in the My Schedule section of the app.
